Accessibility Statement

Immunization Record One (IRO) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities, including individuals with disabilities. We are continuously improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to guarantee that our digital health platforms, informational content, and tools are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

Our Conformance Commitment

To ensure our website and web applications provide equal access, Immunization Record One targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. These guidelines outline best practices for making web content accessible to individuals with visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, and speech disabilities, as well as users relying on assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, speech recognition software, and alternative input devices.

Our digital accessibility efforts align with applicable legal frameworks, including:

  • Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

  • The California Unruh Civil Rights Act

  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (for integrations and alignments with public sector and healthcare standards)

Key Accessibility Measures Implemented

Across ir-one.org and our associated portal interfaces, we strive to adhere to the following principles:

  • Semantic Structure: Using clean HTML headings, landmarks, and structured lists so screen readers can navigate logic flows predictably.

  • Text Alternatives: Providing descriptive alternative text (alt attributes) for informative diagrams, figures, and visual workflows.

  • Keyboard Navigability: Ensuring all menus, modal dialogs, and interactive buttons can be fully navigated and operated using a keyboard alone, with distinct visible focus indicators.

  • Color and Contrast: Maintaining high-contrast text and interactive elements (meeting or exceeding the 4.5:1 ratio for standard text and 3:1 for graphical objects and large text) without relying exclusively on color to convey critical health status or actions.

  • Media Accessibility: Supplying captions and text transcripts for video demonstrations and platform walkthroughs.

Ongoing Assessment and Testing

Immunization Record One evaluates digital properties using automated linting tools (including axe-core and browser accessibility engines) paired with periodic manual keyboard and screen-reader testing across standard environments (such as VoiceOver on iOS/macOS and NVDA on Windows).

Because our platform continuously evolves to support parents, schools, and healthcare providers, minor gaps may occasionally arise during rapid feature updates. We actively address and remediate these issues as soon as they are identified.

Feedback and Assistance Mechanism

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Immunization Record One. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, experience difficulty using any part of our site or web application, or need information in an alternative accessible format (such as large print, plain text, or audio), please reach out to us:

  • Email: support@ir-one.org

  • Mailing Address: Immunization Record One, Attn: Digital Accessibility Coordinator

  • Response Window: We aim to acknowledge receipt of all accessibility inquiries within 2 business days and to work with you directly to provide the requested information or resolve the barrier promptly.

Third-Party Content

While we make every effort to ensure third-party integrations (such as embedded video players, mapping tools, or external verification resources) are accessible, we cannot directly modify underlying vendor codebases. However, we advocate for accessibility across all integrated partner technologies and welcome user reports if an external integration creates an obstacle.
